Choosing the right accommodation
A day at Tūroa on the mountain is exhilarating - crisp air, wide volcanic slopes, and the thrill of carving down Tūroa’s expansive terrain. But where you stay can make just as much difference as the snow conditions.
If you’re planning a ski trip and looking for Tūroa accommodation, Two Rivers Ohakune offers something many ski stays don’t: space, calm, and genuine comfort, all while being just 20 minutes from the action. In an age where sustainability matters, it's worth noting Two Rivers is solar powered, and is rated by Qualmark with Four Star Plus and a Gold Sustainable Tourism Award.
An Easy Base for Tūroa Adventures
Two Rivers Ohakune is perfectly positioned for skiing at Tūroa. You’re close enough for an easy morning drive to the mountain, yet far enough away to return to peace and quiet at the end of the day. If you're not comfortable with the drive, or you don't have a 4WD/chains, then check out Dempseys Ski Shuttle service, which runs from town to Tūroa.
No crowded lodges.
No late‑night party noise.
Just the satisfaction of knowing that once the skis are off, your time is entirely your own.
Come Home to Warmth, Comfort, and Space
After a full day exploring Tūroa’s vast slopes, there’s nothing better than stepping into accommodation that feels considered and welcoming.
At Two Rivers Ohakune, we have created warm, inviting interiors, fully insulated and double-glazed. Our luxury mattresses and premium linens give that extra level of comfort, helping your rest and prepare for the next day on the mountain.
The rooms are tastefully decorated, each having a private entrance. Rua Awa is separate from the other suites, but the Mangawhero and Mangateitei suites have sound absorbing walls, providing a quiet and private space for rest and relaxation. We invite you to switch off and relax. Enjoy a powerful long hot shower, recuperate in a hot tub, enjoy a quiet drink, or simply sit back and let those tired legs recover.
A Calmer Kind of Ski Stay
Ohakune is known as a ski town, but not everyone wants the bustle that often comes with it. Two Rivers is ideal for those who prefer a slower, more refined pace. It’s particularly well suited for:
Couples
Friends travelling together
Mature travellers
Anyone who values privacy and peace after an active day outdoors
Here, evenings are about connection and comfort rather than crowds and noise. Read reviews from other travellers. Two Rivers is all about feeling connected to the mountain and area, so in the Rua Awa and Mangawhero rooms we offer two-night minimum stays. We know that some people just want that "one-day mission" and so we make the Mangateitei Room available, but please note this room does not have a hot tub.
Perfect for More Than Just Skiing
One of the joys of staying at Two Rivers Ohakune is that your trip doesn’t have to revolve entirely around the ski field.
On rest days or bluebird afternoons, you’re well placed to enjoy:
Ohakune’s cafés and eateries
Short walks and riverside scenery
Tongariro National Park beyond the ski slopes
Kicking back and enjoying one of the private hot tubs, either in the Mangawhero or Rua Awa suite
It’s an ideal choice if skiing is part of your visit — but not the only reason you’ve come.
A Stay That Matches the Experience of Tūroa
Tūroa is known for its scale, views, and sense of openness. Two Rivers Ohakune mirrors that same feeling - unrushed, spacious, and grounded in its surroundings.
Rather than simply providing a bed for the night, it offers a place to rest and recuperate. You can lay in bed and enjoy the views, from Mangateitei and Mangawhero you can look back up the mountain and start to plan tomorrow's adventures. We offer room to breathe and a quieter balance to the days spent high on the mountain.
Make Your Ski Trip Feel Like a Holiday
A great ski trip isn’t just about snow conditions - it’s about how the whole experience feels. Choosing the right accommodation can turn a standard skiing weekend into a genuinely restorative getaway.
If you’re visiting Tūroa Ski Field and would like:
